For over twenty years, my work has included consultation, supervision, teaching & training. I supervise students in their traineeships for their Master’s programs and as post graduate Associates/Interns. I love to shepherd young therapists into their therapy careers and also take associate/interns into my private practice.

One of my other favorite things to do is to present/teach in private settings. I teach on trauma and the creative process, addictions and the creative process and Co-Occurring disorders. I have presented for the Northern California Art Therapy Association, Walden House, the former Haight Ashbury Free Clinics, Napa State Hospital, Sunset Mental Health Clinic, Volunteer Legal Services Program of the Bar Association of San Francisco, the Mental Health Symposium (Promoting Mental Health in our Schools) sponsored by San Francisco State University and KQED, Bay Area Addiction Research & Treatment, Inc. (BAART) and the Hemophilia Foundation of Northern California.

Besides private trainings, I taught at City College of San Francisco for many years, as well as the California Institute of Integral Studies and John F. Kennedy University.

"Mena is an excellent clinical supervisor. She is knowledgeable and so incredibly supportive and encouraging at the same time. I have learned strong clinical skills from her and most importantly through her gentle, and yet steady, relational support, I became aware of the areas in which I needed to strengthen my boundaries with clients.
Her supervision approach, her openness to acknowledge my creative ideas, allowed me to feel comfortable and to speak freely and openly. She generously shares her wisdom with warmth and caring that encourages me to grow both professionally and personally. I’ve loved the many ways she challenged me to think in directions that I have yet had an opportunity to explore.

If you’re looking for an amazing supervisor and mentor, Mena is the one."--Nilay Martin AMFT#112311
My Associates
It has been my joy and honor to work with many pre-licensed clinicians in their internships to obtain the required 3000+ hours of supervised work and shepherd them towards licensure. As my practice is filled with a diverse population, I am also interested in working with associates from diverse communities, and especially supporting those who have generally been underrepresented, both as therapists and in underrepresented communities.

For pre-licensed associates, there is the ability to offer more flexibility regarding hours and fees. Currently all sessions are virtual, using a HIPPA compliant, clinical version of Zoom. All therapeutic services provided by my associates are offered collaboratively, under my supervision and guidance.
If you are pre-licensed and seeking a private practice internship and supervision, please contact me.
"My experience as Mena’s supervisee was an invaluable piece of my growth as a clinician. Mena was supportive, relatable, highly knowledgeable and available to process both my work with clients and what came up for me in the supervisory dyad.

Her grounding presence and expertise with trauma made diving into my most challenging case work and counter transferences as easy as I could hope for."--Nathan
